To become a member of Ground Level, you must have a clean customized ride, with at least some modifications. Modifications do not include window tint, cd players, and hub caps (even if they spin). Some examples of what is considered a mod would be full body kits, custom rims, lowered/lifted suspension, shaved handles…ect..ect..ect… If you have any questions about your rides worthyness, feel free to join us at one of our club meetings and we’ll check it out, talk it over, and let you know. Do not show up with a completely stock vehicle and expect to get in. We have been doing this for a long time now, and we have a reputation we’d like to keep. If you do have a stock ride, don’t even ask about joining until you come back with some mods. We’ve been here for over 10 years, so we’re not going anywhere anytime soon. If you’re not really serious about becoming a member, and just want a sticker cause it’s cool, save us both some time and keep to yourself. We’re not assholes, if you happen to take offense to our decision on your ride, remember it’s nothing personal, your taste or style may not fit what we are looking for.
A very important part of being in GL is carrying your self in a way that makes the club look positive to the community. We had plenty of heat from the police and others when we first started, because they had mistaken what we do and who we were. I think most people thought we were a gang or drug dealers or something along those lines (damn that angry rap music lol). It has taken us years to get to where we are, so remember anytime you are in your ride and it’s got a GL sticker on it, anything you do could affect the way we are treated and viewed by the public. We do not want to get a bad reputation with the local law enforcement. That’s no fun for any of us. Doing burnouts, chirping gears, and pulling the e-brake is fun and everything, but honestly you are looking for nothing but trouble and definitely are not impressing any of us. We barely can hang out in town now from all the things that have happened in the past, so watch what you do. If you notice we never get ran off from anywhere until one person starts acting stupid. Soon after that the police are asking us to clear out. That’s not a coincidence, people/stores call in when they see people acting stupid. I don’t ever want that person to be a GL member. If we see a member acting this way we will give you fair warning not to do so again. If the member is caught again, we will pull your sticker on the spot, you will not get another one until you learn how to act. So remember that next time you feel like acting crazy in your ride. However, you may act however you feel in private ;)
New persons who are petitioning for a membership to GL are expected to follow the rules and guidelines listed on this page. All of these rules apply to new members. For a petitioning member to gain full membership to Ground Level, that person must attend all meetings, attend all shows local/national that we do, and show an active interest in being a part of GL. Petitioning members will NOT be listed on the website and will also not be able to purchase any GL merchandise, for at least 3 months. Upon that time we will discuss your membership and decide to give you a full membership or keep you on a petitioning membership. Petitioning members who join with a vehicle that is under construction are expected to show progress. We do understand that not everyone can jump out and spend a small fortune to fix up a vehicle, so we don’t expect you to do that. But we do expect you to show effort and desire toward your ride and the club.
Members should always keep their rides CLEAN. Your ride reflects how we are viewed. If you are riding around in a nice ride that not clean, people notice that. I’m sure everyone wants their ride to be the one that when people see it, they stop look and think “damn that’s badass.” You’ll never get that with a nasty ride. Also a dirty ride shows us that you probably don’t care much about your ride, therefore you probably don’t care to be in a club. Again you will be warned, and if excessive failures to comply, you will be removed from the club.
Members should always attend meetings unless they have a valid excuse for not showing. We don’t ask you to bring a note from mommy saying why you couldn’t make it. But we do understand some people have jobs and family’s that require their time. We will never hold this against you. Just try to make it out when you get a chance or stay in touch with us via website or email so we know you haven’t lost interest. However members who miss meetings regularly without reason, and do not show interest in the club will be warned, then removed if necessary.
Members are expected to attend shows be it local or national. We discuss what shows we’ll be attending at meetings so you will need to attend them. Unleashed in London, Ky and Heritage in Whitesburg, Ky are two shows we definitely want members to attend. We will attend local cruise-in’s and shows as we hear about them. We don’t expect everyone to make it to national events, it costs a lot of money to travel to some of them. But if you can’t afford $10-$20 to get into a local show, then you probably can’t afford to be in GL.
Meetings are held at least once a month, usually on Saturday night starting at 8pm and going on till we decide to crash out (usually after 12). Members are not expected to stay the entire duration of the meeting seeing as they could last all night, but it will be the member’s responsibility to find out any information we spoke about during the meeting. We will try to round up everyone for announcements when we feel most of the members are present. If you can’t attend the meeting, you can email anyone listed in the GL contact information section below to ask if there is any information you need to know. And we’ll try to let you know as soon as possible.
